ΑΞΙΟΛΟΓΗΣΗ

The goal of the “Innovative Actions of the Municipality of Arta for Culture and Tourism” project is to undertake a comprehensive digital transformation of the Municipality. This transformation aims not only to promote its significant attractions but also to enhance tourism by leveraging its cultural richness. Arta Municipality stands out as one of the most culturally abundant in Epirus and Greece, boasting a plethora of historical landmarks spanning various epochs.

The Municipality of Arta endeavors to conserve, amplify, showcase, and market its exceptional cultural heritage, natural treasures, and tourism potential. It aims to achieve this through a holistic digital upgrade, leveraging cutting-edge technologies encompassing multimedia content, digital applications, and services.

As part of this initiative, contemporary signage utilizing QR codes and beacons is being deployed, alongside comprehensive textual documentation covering all points of interest within the Municipality’s broader vicinity. Furthermore, there has been an expansion of the Wi-Fi network to provide visitors with free internet access, facilitating the utilization of innovative applications. This enables visitors to seamlessly access cultural and historical insights, explore a variety of activities, and plan personalized itineraries.

Moreover, a multi-channel web and mobile application has been developed to facilitate navigation and exploration of points of interest. This application offers features such as language selection, location-based information, suggested routes, online/offline maps, multimedia galleries, direct communication with other users, and integration with social networking platforms.

Additionally, there has been a concerted effort to digitally capture culturally significant sites and create multimedia materials, including photographs, aerial videos, and 3D static and dynamic 360-degree recordings. Visitors can immerse themselves in the experience through visual 3D representations of iconic monuments using virtual reality technology, allowing for interactive exploration. Furthermore, an innovative augmented reality tour guide has been developed, enabling visitors to embark on guided tours and participate in or propose cultural activities.

All information provided is available as open digital content, ensuring accessibility and widespread dissemination. This project is co-financed by Greece and the European Union under the Epirus 2014-2020 Operational Programme, with funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and National Resources.
